Raising My Voice Graduation
As part of our ongoing Outreach commitment to Prison Reentry Ministries, we are hosting our third cycle of a 12-week public speaking program for formerly incarcerated men and women with Circles of Support, one of our partner organizations. Parishioners are invited to volunteer at the Raising My Voice graduation ceremony and celebration on Monday, April 16 at 6pm. This is always a powerful event. To volunteer, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
Monday Meditation: Join us every Monday at 6:15 pm for silent meditation in the Chancel. Every session will include a brief reflection, followed by 20 minutes of silent meditation, sometimes called Centering Prayer in the Christian tradition. Please arrive on time so as not to enter during the silence. All are welcome! No prior experience necessary, and no need to sign up. If you have questions, contact Lindsey Briggs at email@example.com or 212-289-3400 ext 210.
From Genesis to Revelations, reading the Bible together is a meaningful way for Heavenly Rest parishioners to deepen their faith while strengthening their ties to the church community. Currently, there are two regularly scheduled opportunities for close Bible study: with the Men’s Breakfast Group, which meets on Tuesday mornings at 7:30 am (locations alternate between the choir room and 3Guys Restaurant on Madison Avenue; and our Friday Morning Bible Study (open to all) which meets Fridays at 9:00 am in the Choir Room after the Morning Prayer service. Both groups enthusiastically welcome newcomers, so please stop by if you are interested.
To learn more about any of these groups, or to propose another forum for Bible study, please contact Rev. Heyd at firstname.lastname@example.org.
On Wednesday evenings from 7pm to 8:15pm, all are invited to join us in the Chancel for our discussion of Women of the New Testament. Mary and Martha, Mary Magdalene, Mary the Mother of Jesus: all have something to teach us about what it means to be a woman following Christ. A simple meal is offered – a small cash donation is requested to offset the cost of the food. All materials are provided. For more information, please contact Tuesday Rupp, email@example.com.
Writing is a powerful form of contemplative prayer. The Journaling group meets once a week, Thursday mornings at 10am in the Chapel, to write and reflect together. During Advent we will be working with the book “Watch for the Light: Readings for Advent and Christmas.” Please contact Tuesday Rupp, firstname.lastname@example.org, for more information.
