Rite I Service in the Chapel
Rite II Service in the Chapel
20 Stories Series: This summer, join us for 20 Stories, a weekly exploration of some
of the most influential – even infamous – stories of our faith. From Genesis to
Revelation, stories of heroes and villains, conquest and redemption, best-loved to
least known, we will look at these ancient texts in new ways. Classes are led by our
Christian Formation Faculty, a group of lay and clergy leaders – 9:35am.
Rite II Service with sermon, choir and hymns in the Church
New to the Church or simply want to explore your faith more deeply? We’ll look at scripture, tradition, and reason within the Episcopal Church. Come to ask all the questions that you’ve wanted to ask and be part of a lively discussion. Weekly meeting room announced in every Sunday leaflet.
Night Prayer Service
Church of the Heavenly Rest invites you to a service of quiet music and contemplation, joining hearts and voices in the centuries-old tradition of Night Prayer. Let the softness of candlelight and the beauty of singing envelop you each Sunday evening from 7:00pm-7:30pm in the Chapel of the Beloved Disciple. Night Prayer, the last office of the day for monastic communities, is the perfect way to both end the day and begin the week nourished and refreshed.
Night Prayer begins on Sunday, December 1.
Join us for 30 minutes of quiet time, prayer and reflection in the Church weekdays at 8am. All are welcome!
ST. CECILIA CHOIR FOR KINDERGARTEN TO GRADE 2
Children learn hymns and stories of the
church through musical games and activities.
Choirs provides both a singing and spiritual community for
children and their families at our church. The combination of
advanced musical training in an encouraging atmosphere with
the spirituality and camaraderie of a church choir is unique.
In conjunction with our Prison and Reentry partner, Circles of Support, we are thrilled to host our fourth cycle of Raising My Voice at CHR. Raising My Voice is an opportunity for formerly incarcerated men and women to improve their public speaking and writing skills in a 9-week workshop class format. CHR provides volunteers who coach participants as they develop their stories into speeches. Interested in volunteering for this or another Outreach project? Please contact Caitlin at email@example.com.
Monday Meditation: Join us every Monday at 6:15 pm for silent meditation in the Chancel. Every session will include a brief reflection, followed by 20 minutes of silent meditation, sometimes called Centering Prayer in the Christian tradition. Please arrive on time so as not to enter during the silence. All are welcome! No prior experience necessary, and no need to sign up. If you have questions, contact Lindsey Briggs at firstname.lastname@example.org or 212-289-3400 ext 210.
