Kids Lead in Worship at Heavenly Rest!
Acolytes are an important part of our faith community. They bring dignity and beauty while providing leadership in our Sunday worship. Acolytes lead the procession by carrying crosses, torches, and Gospel book; they help with the offering; they bring the bread and wine to the altar, and then make sure we have enough bread and wine for everyone at Communion. They lead us out into the world to serve. Our worship services wouldn’t be the same without them!
Our acolytes learn the ins and outs of the liturgy and they make friends – building the kind of caring and loving community we all want to experience.
Children in the third grade through high school are welcome to participate in this ministry. They will be trained and supported by experienced acolytes and the clergy and serve on teams that serve approximately once a month.
As the clergy person coordinating this ministry, I am deeply grateful for all those who have served as acolytes over the last few years. They have made a significant contribution to our worshiping community and they have deepened my own experience and understanding of Christian community at Heavenly Rest. I love our acolytes!
Please be in touch if this ministry is something you’re interested in continuing or would like to begin.
The official acolyte schedule for the fall will begin on Renewal Sunday, September 16. I’ll be eager to hear from you!
