We wish you every joy and blessing as you prepare for your wedding ceremony and your life together in marriage. As one of the most significant events in your lives, your wedding will be approached with joy, respect, and attention to detail at the Church of the Heavenly Rest. We are familiar with the anxiety and tension that couples can experience during the planning of their wedding. It is our aim to help you bring depth, meaning and spiritual intention to the occasion.
The wedding planning process at Heavenly Rest is described in full in our downloadable Wedding Planning Form, fill out our information form at the bottom and one of the clergy will contact you to set up a preliminary meeting, at which time a date and time may be reserved. Weddings are usually on Saturdays, but can be held any other time except Sunday mornings or during Lent; rehearsals are usually the day before. We have two beautiful spaces available: Our main sanctuary that seats about 1,000 people and a side chapel that seats 110 people.
After the initial meeting with a clergy member, you must engage in pre-marital counseling with the Heavenly Rest priest who will officiate the wedding. As an Episcopal Church, we use the marriage service from the Book of Common Prayer (1979). While other rites are not permitted, outside clergy people are generally welcome to participate in the service, subject to discussion with the officiating CHR priest.
Marriage is one of the most challenging and rewarding of human relationships. We believe it is best lived out in a community of faith, where it can be supported and nurtured by others seeking to grow in love, forgiveness, justice and compassion. To that end, we invite you to consider becoming members of this community, who will witness and bless your wedding and promise to uphold you in your marriage.
